A Little About Me
I am a freelance wedding and portrait photographer, and have been in the business of photography, in one form or another, since 2005.
I love and aspire to all things romantic, quirky, magical, twisted, vintage, and unusual, both in my work and life. Some of my favorite things include owls, peacocks, & swallows; tattoos; indie music, showtunes, and symphonic metal; Victorian & steampunk stylings; Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickinson, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, & ee cummings; cemeteries; books , words, and dictionaries; butterscotch; lilacs and lemon verbena; and all things fantasy. I continually see and hear art in the slightest of subjects, and the most unusual of places, which inevitably inspires my own work.
Beginning in April of 2012, I began volunteering my photography services to a local no-kill animal rescue, Safe House Animal Rescue League. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had, and I am honored to be a part of the work that they do.
I live in LaSalle, IL with my husband, Jeremiah; a big baby of a Great Pyrenees, Baldwin; one-eyed kitty , Milo; and a silly little hobo cat named Sir Gink von Nimbus.
When shooting weddings, I sometimes pair up with my longtime friend, Dawn Frary of Dewey Street Photo Company, based in Iowa City, IA. Dawn and I became friends studying ballet in our youth, and reconnected in our adult years. We came to find we shared innumerable interests, photography being just one.
Now, when we have the opportunity to photograph a wedding together, Dawn and I work alongside each other seamlessly to capture the biggest day of a couple’s new life together…and do so in a unique, artful way.
A Little About What I Aim For
I am who you hire for an out of the ordinary experience, and unparalleled photographic art. I love clients who are up for anything. If you’re looking for a studio photographer to sit you in front of a backdrop and tell you to “say cheese”, well, simply put…you’ve got the wrong girl.
I can promise you these things:
1) You will have FUN
2) Your images will not just be portraits, they will be cherished pieces of art you will WANT to show off
3) It will be an adventure, and whatever story you have to tell, I will capture it
4) I will never tell you to “say cheese”…”pickle”, maybe…but never “cheese”
5) You will have FUN!!
For all of your photography needs, from portraits, to engagement sessions, to weddings, you will have an unforgettable experience.
